How it all began:
I have always been interested in healthy living and natural skincare and remember trying to make suntan lotion when I was about 10 (I got sun burned). After using a pure olive oil Castile soap and finding it helped my dry and sensitive skin, I tried making my own soap from scratch in about 2013. Beginner’s luck gave me perfect bars the first time and, thinking I was invincible, I proceeded to have a few humbling moments as well as some success over the years. I gave away bars to family & friends and they all agreed that I should sell them. After securing a site at the Torquay Beachside Markets in Hervey Bay, Queensland, I began to sell my products.
I chose the name JOY as it gives me great joy to experiment and make lovely products, especially soap. I also hope that you, my customer will experience joy when you receive and use my creations.
The purpose of Joy Handmade Australia is always to:
create products that will benefit you and not harm you
create products suitable for sensitive skin
use natural ingredients where possible
select ingredients that have been proven to be beneficial
find alternatives to known allergens
include aromatherapy benefits by incorporating essential oils
avoid artificial fragrances and colours
include historically helpful herbal extracts
